I haven’t been keeping up with basketball or Allen Iverson  lately but I have to admit his baby boy face and smile will be missed. According to Singersroom, the rumors are true… the game is officially over for NBA star athlete Allen Iverson (A.I.).  With no teams showing interest, the NBA great opted to hang up his sneakers. He released a statement, via former ESPN analyst Stephen A. Smith’s website (StephenA.com), explaining.

Citing family, Iverson announced his intent to retire from the NBA just before Thanksgiving:

“I would like to announce my plans from the National Basketball Association. I always thought that when I left the game, it would be because I couldn’t help my team the way that I was accustomed to. However, that is not the case,” said Iverson. “I still have tremendous love for the game, the desire to play and a whole lot left in my tank. I feel strongly that I can still compete at the highest level.”

“To the city of Philadelphia I have wonderful memories of my day in a Sixers uniform,” Iverson stated after thanking Magic Johnson, Charles Barkey, Larry Bird, and Isaiah Thomas. “To Philly fans, thank you. Your voice will always be music to my ears.”

It’s sad as hell, because he’s STILL puttin up 20+ pts & some assists, but there r so many YOUNG guys being developed to do the SAME thing (or BETTER)!
A.I. won’t swallow his pride to just come off the bench and STILL HAVE A BIG IMPACT – ALOT of veterans are still doing BIG things while backing up the young guns. =-(

Damn AI, what’s going on in your life. Take whatever time you need to get your head, your heart and most importantly your spirit right and come back to the game.
